GORE Phantom Jacket – Review

“You focus on riding, and we’ll focus on you.”  -GORE

Being comfortable is very important to me. When I go out for a winter ride I don’t like being too hot or too cold. Most of my old riding jackets stayed in the closet because I would prefer to be cold while riding than over heating.

Gore has come out with a jacket that has solved my problem.  This winter I have been wearing a Gore Phantom jacket. I am able to start with a full jacket, then when I get warmed up I can take the sleeves off and wear it as a vest. Many of my rides last 3-5 hours,  so it’s nice to have a winter riding jacket that can transform into what I need it to be.

The jacket is red with reflector strips on the back and arms. The pockets are large enough to stow away my sleeves as well as anything I might need for my ride. The zipper doesn’t get hung up, and I can use one hand while riding to adjust it. The jacket is made up of lightweight material that is strong, flexible, and breathable. I love the wind breaking ability of this jacket. It can be a windy 32 degrees and I’m still warm (learned this from experience)!

In this picture I had on a base layer with no sleeves on the jacket

Last Friday I rode to work in 32 degree weather. The jacket (and ski mask) did a great job of keeping me warm.
